Douglas Shores Campground
A rural and primitive campground, Douglas Shores Campground is in a beautiful mountainous region of East Tennessee. There are plenty of recreational opportunities nearby, including rafting, Dollywood, golfing, water sports, swimming, fishing, whitewater rafting, skiing and more.
There are many opportunities for hiking, such as Stone Mountain Trail. A popular area visited by locals and visitors is Rankin Bottoms, which is nearby. It includes a wildlife viewing area and bird watching. A popular local trail is Messer Trail. The campground also is a short drive from Panther Creek State Park.
Because Douglas Shores is a primitive campground designed to allow people to escape into nature, it does have few amenities. The campground is located near an old bridge and a loading chute used by the railroad on the National Register of Historic Places.
