Douglas Dam Tailwater Campground

Douglas Dam Tailwater Campground is one of Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) recreational areas. A self-service campground, it has 43 campsites with electric and water which includes two sites that are handicap-accessible.  The campground is open from March 15th through November 15th (last night to stay is November 14th).

This campground has restrooms with flush toilets and heated showers plus an on-site dumping station. Guests have access to picnic tables and grills, a boat ramp, river fishing with a fishing pier, a wildlife viewing area, children’s playground equipment, a group pavilion that is available by reservation and bird watching access.

The campground is also very close to multiple tourists attractions in Seviervillle, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Daily camping fees are very reasonable for a site without hookups priced between $13 to $20 depending on location. A campsite with water and/or electric is $25 to $27 depending on location.

Reservations are required for the picnic pavilion. Make reservations by calling (865) 361-1522 (March 15 to November 15). There is a $100 non-refundable fee. The pavilion is equipped with an electrical outlet that has two plug-ins. There are 10 tables with a seating capacity of 60 people. Outside the pavilion is stadium seating that can accommodate 200 more people. There is a large covered charcoal grill and one uncovered charcoal grill. While there are no lights underneath the pavilion, there are lights outside the pavilion.
