Fishing Tournaments
A favorite lake among fisherman, it should be no surprise that Douglas Lake hosts many fishing tournaments. It is known far and wide for the Bassmaster tournaments it hosts. Among the tournaments that held on the lake were the Bassmaster High School Open, the Bass Pro Shops Northern Open, Bassmasters Series Tennessee and Bassmaster Megabucks.
Several professional fishermen have taped shows while fishing on the lake. Among the larger fish caught from the lake is a 52.62-pound striper reeled in by Keith Poche, which turned out to be a lake record. Poche, a professional fisherman, had the fish weighed in by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
Douglas Lake was where the largest goldfish carp in the state was caught. It weighed in at 1-pound, 11 ounces. The lake has a variety of species, including large mouth bass, small mouth bass, white bass, black bass, crappie, sauger, walleye, bluegill, channel catfish, blue cat, sunfish, carp and more.
